We were privileged to welcome Mr Willy Borsus, Vice-President of Wallonia in charge of the economy, digital issues, IFAPME and skills centers, to our Tournai offices.
This visit, which took place within the framework of the national sectoral federation of Techlink installation companies, enabled us to discuss the lack of qualified manpower.
Lack of skilled labor: a problem that particularly affects the industrial sector
During this visit, we were able to discuss and take stock of the shortage of skilled workers in the industrial sector, and the difficulty of making technical fields more attractive despite their job opportunities.
It’s a fact, according to Forem, that in 2022: 141 functions have been declared in shortage. These include installation and electrical engineering.
Even though we have set up the Technord Academy, which provides in-house training in a number of specific areas, we still have positions open for applications.
What are the possible solutions to this problem?
The lack of skilled labor and possible solutions were the topic of the day!
Willy Borsus and we had a long discussion to try and find concrete solutions.
Exchanges and discussions, particularly with young graduates working with us, were very constructive and convivial.
Below you’ll find a number of articles describing our exchanges and the various solutions.
