Renovation and relocation of a machine park

3 Oct 24Other industries, Process Control/ Motion Control

Find out how our Process Control teams worked on the machinery of a global tire manufacturer.

Customer challenge

During the renovation and relocation of a machine park, a large number of operatorinterventions had to be maintained. For our customer, it was necessary toimprove safety levels and comply with the latest guidelines for the design and evaluation of safety-related control systems.

It was also necessary to replace the control and command elements of the machines with the latest generation equipment, while complying with the customer’s electrical and programming standards .

Technord’s solution

To upgrade machine safety to the latest standards, we worked in partnership with Pilz to draw up a risk analysis and a safety design.

We then carried out adetailed functional analysis, integrating the safety design and the new programming standards.

Our teams have implemented :

  • replacement of machine control elements with the latest generation of equipment (electrical, pneumatic and automation)
  • adaptation of PLC and HMI programs (operator panels)
  • adaptation of new safety equipment in line with the new detailed functional analysis
  • plant commissioning
  • operator and maintenance training

The standards used :

  • Safety standards Functional EN ISO 13849-1 and -2 and EN/IEC 62061
  • Standards Electrical safety to EN IEC 60204-1

Customer gain

Following our interventions, the customer noted :

  • increased safety for operators (without additional constraints)
  • increased machinereliability
  • easier in-house maintenance thanks to electrical and programming standards
  • obtaining electricalsafety, machine safety and CE conformitycertificates
